The project, located across from the iconic Eastland Shopping Centre, the new Department of Transport (DOT) Ringwood Office & Customer Hub is now fitted with state-of-the-art height safety systems to go along with the overall cutting edge facade design.
The Project
The facade was the primary focus of the design, with the need to provide access for maintenance over the non-load bearing curtain walls. The desired system look was to remain discreet to not take away from the buildings aesthetics.
Solutions
The installer worked closely with the design team to create a comprehensive working at heights and rope access system. The system features rope access needles connected to rigid rails, providing a mobile and efficient solution for accessing the facade. Needles were chosen for their ability to access the curtain wall without applying load and offer an economical option for concrete installations. The rigid rails serve as fall prevention when used with harnesses and allow multiple operators to work simultaneously, saving time and costs. Additional fall protection was provided with concrete mount anchors and warning signboards.
